How does it deter would-be thieves?

Van Guardian activates on contact with a 110dB alarm, alerting others and deterring intruders immediately. It can protect multiple vulnerable areas of a vehicle including pipe carriers, roof racks, and van doors.

What stops anyone from just ripping it off the van?

It uses 3M high bond adhesive to create a secure seal. If removal is attempted, the unit triggers a two-second warning followed by a 30-second full alarm. The adhesive is stronger than screw-in systems and does not damage the vehicle.

How long do the batteries last?

In standby mode, batteries can last up to six months. With daily use, typical battery life ranges from 2 to 4 months.

How do I replace the batteries?

Follow the simple instructions in the booklet. Each compartment uses 3 AAA batteries and the process takes under 5 minutes.

What batteries does it use?

Each Van Guardian unit uses 6 AAA alkaline batteries (3 per compartment), and the remote uses a P27 battery.

How will I know when the batteries need replacing?

A low battery alert sound will play when setting the alarm. The remote’s blue light will dim when its battery is low.

Because it’s fitted externally, can I go into a jet wash with it?

Yes, Van Guardian is water-resistant and can withstand a jet wash. Avoid direct, close-range spraying to maintain product longevity.

Why is it made of plastic and not metal?

It is constructed from durable automotive-grade plastic, which absorbs impact without damage. Unlike metal, it won’t dent or corrode, and it reduces manufacturing and end-user costs.

Can I get it off and use it on my next vehicle?

Yes, you can remove the base once the alarm is separated from it. A new base can be purchased to reinstall the unit on a different vehicle.

Is it better than a wired alarm?

Van Guardian complements, rather than replaces, wired alarms. It activates on contact—before damage occurs—and offers protection in areas wired systems typically don’t cover.
